THIS IS NOT KOREA/KOREAN!: Mod post ↘

-Currently ROK is a democratic state because of the gains made during the 80s and the democratization movement.

-The current right wing groups in Korea such as those who reside in ilbe, however, have made the word “democratization” a bad word because they’re against the gains made in that era…

I’ll be first to say I love Hyosung like to deathh but if she fucked up she fucked up, some of these fans need to stop acting like their faves don’t do shitty problematic things. The world does not revolve around coddling ppl and letting them say and do whatever the hell they want.

ok so im confused. I know she said something bad… errr…

this has something to do with politics, and with politics I just really…ugh.

i actually don’t get this…

It’s alright if you’re lost, we don’t know Korea like that so we probably won’t be able to fully understand.

Okay. Let me re-clarify.

There are two meanings used for the word democratization.

One is you know, to become a democracy from a totalitarian regime, etc.

The other is used by right wing shitheads in Korea to mean “chaotic” “deprived of freedom (wtf)” “conformist” stuff like that.

And what Hyosung said was 저희는 개성을 존중하는 팀이거든요 민주화 시키지 않아요

Which can be roughly translated into “we are a team that respects individuality we don’t democratize”

Explain to me how the first meaning can be used in that sentence. It can’t. So clearly it doesn’t mean that. It means the second one. She used it in a right-wing shithead context.

But what she did was “I’m sorry, I did not know what the word meant.”

She’s an adult. She’s also pretty smart from what we see on her school records.

In sum she probably meant it in a right-wing context and she should be getting criticism because she deserves it and she delivered a fauxpology.

Hope this cleared it up for you!

Paula and I were talking about this all day today. Damn.

Sometimes people have a hard time understanding what a happy relationship between two people who obvs think the other is awesome looks like.

We think this is one great (and holy bananas, so freaking hilarious) example.

This is the best thing I have ever seen.
